The diagram below dictates how the VMware View 4.6 Lab is setup. The VMware View 4.6 setup and configuration tutorials will refer back to this lab diagram.

First up I’m using the Netapp Simulator which will give me an iSCSI connection through to my Vmware Cluster – vmcluster1 (ESX) and vmcluster2 (ESXi). You might be asking how or why i have a volume setup with 16GB and am able to provision a 30GB Lun. To be able to do this I am over provisioning the storage. With 2 Windows 7 workstations installed on the Lun I’m able to save 50% with deduplication, therefore in theory i’m only really using 15GB on the storage system, but in Vmware I will see the iSCSI Lun at 30GB.
I have Windows 2008 Active Directory setup. The server called Win2k85 is our Vmware View Connection Server and the server Vcenter2k8 is out dedicated Vmware vCenter server which we’ll be installing VMware View Composer.
